Photography Club – The Photography Club combines photography with leadership development. Students in the club work on perfecting the photography skills learned in the classroom or try some of the unique and more challenging aspects of photography such as hand coloring prints, experimenting with infrared film and digital photography. The club holds “Roundtable meetings” where darkroom concerns are discussed, new ideas are presented and contests are posted. Officers of the darkroom are elected by their peers at these meetings. Officers are responsible for maintaining organization in the darkroom and assisting other students. Students in the club earn a rank, beginning with Junior Officer all the way to Senior Executive. Students advance through the ranks as their photography and leadership skills develop. The club also participates in a number of photographic and non-photographic social activities such as movies, bowling, museums and trips to amusement parks. The purpose of the club is to create a true love for the art of photography while developing practical social skills and leadership qualities in all students. Contact teacher Bruce Bennett for details.
