ParentsThe parent-teacher partnership is essential to our program at The Norman Howard School. Research findings indicate that the quality of a school improves when parents get involved. For parents to be involved, they need access to information, which is why we consider the parent resources section of our website so important. We encourage you to access the information and links on this website to assist you in supporting your child's academic growth. Daily homework assignments are posted under your student's teacher’s personalized webpage. Other areas of the website such as the calendar will enable you to stay current with what is happening at NHS.
Student outcomes at NHS are better when parents and teachers stay in communication. We urge you to use the staff directory to contact your child's advisor if you have any concerns, questions, or just want an update on progress. If you wonder about course specific issues such as homework, test results, classroom expectations, or behavior, the classroom teacher is the one who can answer you best.
We welcome your comments and suggestions as we strive to create a comprehensive website that contains the necessary elements to maintain a strong working relationship between NHS staff and parents. Please contact Linda Lawrence at llawrence@normanhoward.org or 585-334-8010, ext. 305 with any ideas to enhance communication.
Parents can also get involved with The Norman Howard School by joining the NHS Parent Association (PA). The PA meets every other month during the school year to plan social events, fundraisers and the annual faculty appreciation lunch. The meetings are informal and all are welcome!
