Dedication of Medill Commons

"You gave my child a place to succeed, a place to belong." - Kim Schultz, parent of a Norman Howard graduate

The grateful parent who expressed these words as part of a poem entitled, "A Norman Howard Kid," could be addressing Mr. George Medill, an esteemed founding and current Trustee of The Norman Howard School. Over the span of our school's 40 years and 36 graduation ceremonies, Mr. Medill has dedicated his time, expertise, passion, and generous philanthropic support to assuring our students and our school thrive.

From a classroom of just 6 students to a successful NYSED-approved, NYSAIS-accredited institution serving 110 students every year, Mr. Medill has ushered NHS through infancy, growth, and to become an educational cornerstone in our community.

"Today, thanks in no small part to George’s commitment and stewardship, The Norman Howard School has supported academic success, personal growth and hope for thousands of children and families," stated Richard Sands, Education Success Foundation Board Chair, at an intimate dedication event held July 30, 2019.

The Norman Howard School is thrilled to honor Mr. George Medill for his incredible contributions to our school with the dedication of Medill Commons. This vibrant, bustling, common where students gather, eat, and learn celebrates Mr. Medill's ongoing stewardship and commitment, for which we are all so fortunate.
