The Data Security & Privacy Policy includes all protections given to parents/persons in parental relationship and students pursuant all State and federal laws that protect student data.

In accordance with the requirements of New York Education Law § 2-d, The Norman Howard School provides a Parents’ Bill of Rights with respect to maintaining the privacy and security of student data.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is the foundational federal law on the privacy of students’ educational records.

FERPA requires that The Norman Howard School obtain your written consent prior to the disclosure of personally identifiable information. NHS may disclose “directory information” without written consent, unless you have advised NHS to the contrary.
