I enjoy working at The Norman Howard School because I get to work alongside amazing students and together we learn something new every day. 

Mrs. Coates has been a teacher since 1993 and  a reading teacher at The Norman Howard School since 1998.  She is passionate in guiding students towards their ultimate success in reading, which is a fundamental life skill.  The ultimate compliment to her profession, she feels, is when a student states that they want to continue reading! 

Mrs. Coates holds a NYS Reading Certification and Wilson Reading Certification Level 1, and is trained in: Lindamood-Bell Visualize/Verbalize, Reading Advantage, Close Reading, Really Great Reading. 

Although she's lived in Rochester all her life, Mrs. Coates likes to travel, especially to Mexico and the Caribbean.  In her spare time she enjoys relaxing with her family, watching her son play ice hockey, cooking, and thrift store bargain hunting.
